S1000D is a specification that has been designed specifically for technical publications for the aviation and defence industries. Although the specification has been developed for these industries, the use of S1000D in other industries is also true. How this specification can be used in any industry may be limited by your own imagination.

In this course you will be introduced to S1000D to start you on your journey of using S1000D. This course will not identify any specific software solution that could be considered for the project.

The course will look at the information provided in the 3500 pages of the S1000D specification and help you to understand what is involved to use S1000D for the project. You will start with the basic introduction to the specification and continue through to what types of publications you need to consider for the final deliver.

Many of the points that are included in the course may be incorporated into your organisation. The core difference is that we document the information for S1000D to formalise the information.
